DETAILS

Sectional Wall Planning Maps are designed for visual navigation. Topographic information as well as visual checkpoints are depicted and used for flight under visual flight rules (VFR). Checkpoints include populated places, drainage patterns, roads, railroads, and other distinctive landmarks. These charts contain less detail than the Terminal Area Charts, but more detail than the smaller scale World Aeronautical Charts.

Using current versions of the standard FAA Sectional Titles, Higher Plane digitally stitches adjacent charts together, creating these unique, full-color wall maps. All custom maps contain exactly the same information found on the published charts. You choose the coverage, scale, and optional mileage circle overlays, to meet your exact specifications.

These practical and highly-detailed wall maps are available in a variety of sizes, in either landscape or portrait orientations. Enlarged versions are also available that cover less area, but make the small type easier to read. If you would rather have a size not offered on this site, or would like quotes on several different options, simply enter your specs in the CUSTOM REQUEST FORM Tab below. We will provide a free, no-obligation quote as quickly as possible.

IMPORTANT: Since these maps only cover a portion of the US or Alaska, you must enter a center location (either airport ID or Lat/Long values) in the “Order Notes” box in the right column of the Checkout Screen. If selected, the optional mileage circle origin should also be entered here. The map center and mileage circle origin can be (and usually are) the same location, but can be two different locations. If your map center location is near a coastline, we will minimize coverage out into large bodies of water and maximize land coverage. Please feel free to include any additional information that will provide clarification. If we have any doubts or need further clarification, we will contact you via email prior to the production process.

MAP OPTIONS

Several options are available on all Higher Plane wall maps, helping you to create a unique map based on your individual needs.

Additional costs are reflected for each option.  A choice must be selected on all option drop-down lists, even if the selection is “None”.  Once the final option is selected, the total cost will appear, along with the “Add To Cart” button.  To change a previously selected option, first select “Choose an option…” and then re-enter your choice.  When user specific information is required (i.e. map coverage, mileage circle origin, etc.), please enter this information in the “Order Notes” box in the right column of the Checkout Screen.

These Product Description Tabs are always available for reference.  We offer free shipping on all orders and sales tax (6%) only applies to orders delivered in Florida.

MAP SIZES

The Sectional Wall Maps are available in five different sizes.  (See the DETAILS Tab above for specific descriptions of content and source data.)  The details contained in the enlarged versions DO NOT change.  These scaled-up versions cover less area, but are much easier to read, without compromising resolution. The rectangular sizes can be ordered in either landscape or portrait configurations.

A) 43” x 43″ (Appox. 270nm by 270nm at 100%-scale.)

B) 60” x 43″ (Appox. 385nm by 270nm at 100%-scale… similar coverage to the combined front and back sides of a standard Sectional chart.)

C) 60” x 60″ (Appox. 385nm by 385nm at 100%-scale.)

D) 82” x 60″ (Appox. 535nm by 385nm at 100%-scale.)

E) 82” x 82″ (Appox. 535nm by 535nm at 100%-scale.)

MEDIA OPTIONS

Laminated Paper is the choice for 70 to 80% of our clients.  It provides adequate durability and allows use of a dry-erase marker.  It is also the most economically priced.  (Basis Weight: 35#, Thickness: 6.4 mil.)

A second choice is Tyvek Canvas.  This looks like paper, but is thicker and provides more durability (36#, 13 mil).

A third media option is Heavy-Duty Canvas.  This is our most durable choice.  It is much thicker, not quite as bright white, and has a more “artistic” look and feel (105#, 18 mil). Both Canvas types can be provided with or without lamination.

When selected, lamination is added to both the front and back of each wall map.  Print resolution does not vary between media types and is very clear on every choice.

MAP ORIENTATIONS

Sectional Wall Planning Maps can be produced in either Landscape or Portrait orientations. Landscape means that the width is greater than the height. Portrait maps are taller than they are wide. On square map sizes (width = height), orientation is not an issue.

MAP SCALES

Choose from five different map scales. Choosing a larger map scale will result in less coverage, but map details will be larger and easier to read. For example, the 82″ x 60″ size at 100%-scale will cover 535nm by 385nm. At 200%-scale, the wall map will still be 82″ x 60″, but will only cover about 265nm by 190nm. All the map details will be twice as large on the 200%-scale maps.

A) 100%… Scale: 1:500,000 or 1″ = 6.86 nautical miles.
B) 125%… Scale: 1:400,000 or 1″ = 5.49 nautical miles.
C) 150%… Scale: 1:333,000 or 1″ = 4.57 nautical miles.
D) 175%… Scale: 1:286,000 or 1″ = 3.92 nautical miles. *(This option is only available for map sizes 60″ x 60″ or larger.)
E) 200%… Scale: 1:250,000 or 1″ = 3.43 nautical miles. *(This option is only available for map sizes 60″ x 60″ or larger.)

MILEAGE CIRCLES

Mileage Circles can be added to any title for an additional $49.  These circles are transparent and will radiate from a location of your choice.  If you choose this option, please enter your custom origin location in the “Order Notes” Box in the right column of the Checkout Screen.  They can depict either statute or nautical miles at optional frequencies (quantities) and colors.   (See the next two tabs below.)

NOTE:  A choice must be selected on all option drop-down lists.  Even when selecting “None”, all three Mileage Circle choices must be set to “None”.  To change a previously selected option, first select “Choose an option…” and then make your new choice.

MILEAGE CIRCLE FREQUENCIES

We have offered several choices for the frequency (quantity) of Mileage Circles.  More frequent circles increase the accuracy of distance estimates, but become more prominent.  Solid circles are labeled with mileage values and dashed lines (between the solid lines) are not labeled.  You may also set the Mileage Circles at distances of your choice.  Custom requests are entered in the “Order Notes” box in the right column of the Checkout Screen.

GRAY:  Prominence = High,  Legibility = High
YELLOW:  Prominence = Low,  Legibility = Medium
